WHAT IS A BEEF DEPOSIT? You reserve a whole/half/quarter beef share today with a $1,000/$700/$400 deposit. We reserve one of our premium angus steers or heifers for your family. Our USDA-certified butcher will process your beef and pack it in individual vacuum-sealed packages. Once your beef is ready, we will send you an invoice to collect the rest of the payment ($2,600/$1,300/$700).

A Dream Four Decades in the Making

JimBo Gordey's love for cattle began as a young man watching "The Rare Breed" – a 1966 film about bringing Hereford cattle to Texas. That childhood dream stayed with him through a 38-year career in the insurance industry, until he and his wife Cindy finally made it a reality with G&L Cattle Company and Gordeys Best Beef.After retiring from his successful insurance agency, JimBo met Cindy, a nursing professor who shared his values of hard work, integrity, and serving others. Together, they founded their ranch – named G&L to honor both their fathers (Gordey and Lawson). While Cindy continues her work in nursing education, she brings the same attention to detail and care for others to their beef business, handling accounting and record-keeping while actively participating in every aspect of ranch life.

How much freezer space will I need for a Quarter Beef Share?

You'll need approximately 12- 18 cubic feet for a half and 6-7 cubic feet of freezer space for a quarter, which is about the size of a standard chest freezer.

How long will the beef last in my freezer?

When properly stored in your freezer, our vacuum-sealed beef will maintain optimal quality for 12 months for ground beef and up to 18 months for steaks and roasts.

How is the beef packaged?

All cuts are individually vacuum-sealed to preserve freshness and prevent freezer burn. Each package is clearly labeled with the cut name and weight. Boxes are carefully packed with eco-friendly insulation and sufficient dry ice to ensure everything arrives frozen.

Is your beef grass-fed or grain-finished?

Our beef is pasture raised with 24/7 availability of haygrazer hay and other vitamins and minerals, then it is grain-finished.
