This one may sound a little strange, but it is one of our family’s favorites!
Filling:
1 lb. hamburger meat
½ cup chopped onion
2 Tbsp. flour
¾ tsp. salt
¼ tsp. garlic salt
1 ¼ cup milk
3 oz. cream cheese
1 beaten egg
10 oz. chopped broccoli
4 oz. monterey jack cheese
2 pastry crusts
Milk
Pastry:
2 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
2/3 cup shortening
5-7 Tbsp. water
Prepare the Filling

Brown meat & onion.

Add flour, salt & garlic salt.

Stir in milk & cream cheese over medium heat until bubbly.

Temper the egg by adding a moderate amount of meat mixture to beaten egg, stir well & return to skillet.

Stir until mixture becomes thickened.

Add cooked broccoli, stir & set aside.
Make the Crust

Mix the flour and salt together.

Add the shortening to the flour and cut in until mixture resembles cornmeal.

Add the water, one tablespoon at a time.

Knead dough a couple of times then divide in half.

Roll each half of the dough into a circle to fit a 9 inch pie plate.

Put the filling into the pastry shell

Cover with cheese.

Put top crust on & coat lightly with milk.

Bake at 350 ° for 40-45 minutes, until the crust turns a golden brown.
